The Hungarian violinist is remembered as one of the most significant violinists of the 19th century
Joachim was the dedicatee of the Bruch, Brahms, Schumann, and Dvorak Violin Concerti.
He is also credited with the revival in popularity of Bach’s Solo Sonatas and Partitas and Beethoven’s Violin Concerto.
His noted students included Leopold Auer, Willy Burmester, Willy Hess, Bronisław Huberman, Franz von Vecsey, and Jenő Hubay.
