Virtual Auction Raises Funds For Decca Classics Bursary
In association with Omega Auctions, Decca Classics announced an online auction to raise money for children to participate in classical music education regardless of their financial background
After celebrating its 90th year in 2019, Decca Classics launched the Decca Bursary — which has so far provided £20,000 worth of awards to schools and individuals across the UK and Ireland.
The program assists the costs of equipment and music lessons, enabling young musicians to achieve their classical music ambitions. The auction will not only include items but also exclusive opportunities to meet and receive lessons from Decca’s biggest artists.
The opportunities include VIP tickets to meet tenor Andrea Bocelli; a backstage meet and greet with pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, including tickets to the BBC Proms; a chance to attend saxophonist Jess Gillam’s recording session; and an online chat with siblings Sheku and Braimah Kanneh-Mason complete with a signed collector’s edition LP and print; among many others.
"At Decca we can see first-hand the power of music; to inspire, to soothe, to bring people together, to communicate with passion and emotion," said Laura Monks, Decca’s Co-Managing Director. "It is with this in mind we are so proud that via the Decca Bursary we are able to support the fundamental first steps into music in its many forms."
The auction will be held online at 4 PM British Summer Time on July 6, 2021.
