WACKY WEDNESDAY | Violinist Roman Kim — The One Man String Quartet

The Russian-German violin virtuoso performs his own transcription of Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik"

Recorded in La Redout, Bonn, this video is one of Kim's many video transcription projects. At 19 years old, he transcribed the "Air" by Bach from the Third Orchestral Suite and adapted all four parts of Bach's score to a single violin. Music publisher Bärenreiter published the transcription in 2015, which sold out within months.

This most recent transcription of "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" for solo violin can also be purchased, here.

With a scholarship from the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation, Kim studied with Maxim Vengerov and attended masterclasses with Midori, Lewis Kaplan, Miriam Fried, and Gidon Kremer, while continuing to give concerts in major halls in Russia, Western Europe, and South Korea. In 2008, Roman Kim was accepted at the age of 16 at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, where he studied with Prof. Viktor Tretyakov.
