American composer and music theorist Peter Westergaard has passed away - aged 88

American composer and music theorist Peter Westergaard has passed away - aged 88.

Mr Westergaard served long-term Professorships at Columbia University, Amherst College and Princeton University - his famed works including a string quartet, a number of vocal cantatas and the operas Charivari and Alice and Wonderland.

Our condolences are with Mr Westergaard's family, friends, colleagues and students.
