Antonio Mormone International Prize Names 2025 Semi-Finalists

Open this year to violinists aged 16 to 28, ten semi-finalists have been selected to compete from May 2024 to March 2025

 

Presented by La Società dei Concerti Foundation, the Antonio Mormone International Prize to support and promote young artists is held every four years. Its 2025 and second edition is dedicated to the violin.

In total, the competition received 51 applications from 19 countries. The selected candidates will perform in concerts in Italy and abroad across ten months from May 2024 to March 2025. 

The semi-finalists are:

Anna Im, b.1997 (South Korea)

Amia Janicki, b.1997 (Switzerland)

Cosima Soulez Larivière, b.1996 (France/Netherlands)

Emma Meinrenken, b.1999 (Germany/Canada)

Vikram Francesco Sedona, b.2000 (Italy)

 

The jurors for the first round comprised Yumi Arata, Enrica Ciccarelli, Mark Gothoni, Anna Tifu, and Eddardo Zosi. For more on each of the semi-finalists, click here.

The first prize winner will receive a €30,000 cash prize, an album recording with Universal Music Group, three years of artistic support coordinated by the Fondazione La Società dei Concerti, plus concert engagements in Italy and abroad.

Each of the second and third prize winners will receive €5,000. A concert offered by the Club degli Amici del Premio Internazionale Antonio Mormone will be awarded to the candidate with the most votes from the public.

The three finalists will be announced next year on April 15, 2025. The final round will be held from June 16–22, 2025 in Milan with the orchestra of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala.

Finalists will also participate in the competition’s “Historical Violin” round performing Schubert’s Sonata in A major for violin and piano, Op. 162, D. 574 “Grand Duo,” on a 1757 Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi violin made in Milan, from the Conservatory of Milan historical instrument collection. 

The prize is overseen by its honorary president Evgeny Kissin, while the prize’s honor committee is chaired by Dr. Gianni Letta; Zosi will serve as artistic director of the second edition.

“Antonio Mormone was an extraordinary man whom I had the privilege of knowing and being friends with for almost 30 years,” Kissin said on the competition website. “He loved music, talented people. His memory should be honored and I think this Award is the best way to remember Antonio Mormone for the many years to come.”
