Veteran London Symphony Orchestra Violinist Lennox Mackenzie Has Retired

London Symphony Orchestra Sub Leader, Lennox Mackenzie has retired - after more than 38 years performing with the ensemble

It has been announced today that London Symphony Orchestra Sub Leader, British violinist Lennox Mackenzie has retired - after more than 38 years performing with the ensemble.

In 2018, he was awarded an 'OBE Queen's Honour' for his services to music - as well as the Royal Philharmonic Society and Association of British Orchestras' 'Salomon Prize', 'for his innate ability, love of music and generosity of spirit'.

Lennox, in addition, served as the orchestra's chairman for 16-years - making him the longest-serving chairman in the orchestra's 114-year history.
