The Nashville Symphony, in Nashville, United States has today announced the furlough of 131 administration, artistic affairs and production staff and musicians – due to the ongoing economic effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Tennessee-based ensemble has been forced to cancel or postpone more than 50 performances due to the COVID-19 virus - with an estimated loss of around $8 million in ticket revenue.
"We anticipate that any potential layoffs and furloughs of Symphony musicians and staff would be temporary ...” Symphony Board Chair Mary Peacock has today said.
“If forced to take these extraordinary measures, we would be doing so to ensure that the Nashville Symphony is able to continue serving our community for generations to come." she has said.
