The Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra Appoints New Concertmaster

Adriane Post's first appearance as concertmaster will be the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra's (IBO) 2022-2023 season-opening concert on October 2, 2022 at the Indiana History Center. She joins Artistic Director Barthold Kuijken at the IBO

Equally at home as a soloist, leader, and chamber musician, Post is a founding member of the ACRONYM Ensemble and Diderot String Quartet.

She has served as Concertmaster of the National Cathedral Baroque Orchestra, Co-concertmaster of Apollo's Fire in Cleveland, and as guest leader with ensembles Seraphic Fire and The Thirteen.

A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory and The Juilliard School, Post was part of the inaugural class of the Historical Performance Program at the latter institution.

“Adriane is a wonderful musician and a brilliant violinist, and I'm looking forward very much to our collaboration," said IBO Artistic Director Barthold Kuijken. "At the same time, I want to express all my gratitude to our now-retired concertmaster Allison Nyquist, and to Martie Perry (Acting Concertmaster), Jeremy Rhizor, and Guillermo Salas Suárez who did a great job leading IBO projects during the interim."

Founded in 1997, the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra is a period orchestra, whose members perform on instruments built between about 1600 and 1750, or replicas of such instruments.

The orchestra has been ensemble residence at the University of Indianapolis since 1999, and typically alternates between performing at UIndy and the Indiana Historical Society.
