Former Choral Director and Associate Music Professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth, Tina Thielen-Gaffey has passed away - aged just 50
Former Choral Director and Associate Music Professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth, Tina Thielen-Gaffey has passed away - aged just 50.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Western Michigan University and the University of Iowa, Tina served on the Minnesota-Duluth teaching faculty from 1999 until 2015.
It is understood she died from an accidental overdose of prescription medicine.
Tina leaves behind a husband and two small children.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist the family at this time.
“Nothing can fill the hole she has left behind … but with lots of love and attention we can work together to build bridges of healing for this beautiful family,” family friend, Jennifer Scovell-Parker has said.
“I have created this page in the hopes that we can raise money to help cover the costs of this great loss … in lieu of donating here consider donating to a charity or support group ... if you can't donate, pay it forward with kindness,” she has said.

Two funeral services will be held on September 14th and 16th at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Duluth and the Wisconsin Immanuel Lutheran Church in New London.
