2020 Klein International String Competition Going Ahead Online
The Irving M. Klein International String Competition has announced its 2020 competition final round will be conducted online
The Irving M. Klein International String Competition, in San Francisco, has this week announced its 2020 competition final rounds will be conducted online - via the competition's YouTube Channel.
Normally held annually at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the new virtual edition, due to the limitations of the COVID-19 virus, will take place on the 6th and 7th of June, 2020.
The 2020 Semi-Finalists are:
- Violist Keoni Bolding
- Violinist Gabrielle Despres
- Violinist Caroline Durham
- Violinist Masha Lakisova
- Violinist Enrique Rodrigues
- Violinist DongYoung Jake Shin
- Cellist Jiaxun Caroline Yao
- Cellist Davis You
The 2020 jury will comprise: Richard Aaron, Christopher Costanza, Glenn Dicterow, Karen Dreyfus, Robert Gibson, Ian Swensen and Barbara Day Turner.
The jury will convene remotely to judge the performance videos.
Open to string players aged 15 to 23, the Klein is widely recognised as one of America’s most important development prizes – with previous 1st prize winners including Jennifer Koh, Vadim Gluzman, Jennifer Frautschi, Robert deMaine and Frank Huang – and VC Artists Tessa Lark, Nikki Chooi and Zlatomir Fung.
