SongHa Choi
What are your hobbies outside of music?
I go through many quick phases of different hobbies, including trying out traditional dances from around the world, horse riding, boxing and studying for a very random certificate such as sommelier exam, but my constants are reading classics, writing, baking, knitting, drawing (or any kinds of crafty hands on activities!)
If you were not a musician, what profession do you feel you’d be doing now?
I would in fact love to be a writer. I would still like to open a jazz cafe one day!
What would your dream gig be?
My dream gig would be to record complete works for violin by Bartok and Prokofiev!
What is a song that makes you turn the radio up?
Depends on my mood, any Queen songs or maybe classic French chansons.
What would you say makes you unique as a musician?
Temperament, "in the moment" energy on stage and the spontaneity.
Do you keep all 3 meals phone free? No social media scrolling.
I don't have an instagram account to scroll through during meal times, but I do occasionally get deeply stuck in a clicking cycle on a Wikipedia page when I am eating alone. If I am with others, the phone stays in my bag!
