The Terra String Quartet has today been awarded the Senior Strings Division gold medal and Grand Prize at the 49th Annual Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, in Notre Dame, Indiana.
Founded in 2015 and comprising violinists Harriet Langley and Amelia Dietrich, violist Ramón Carrero Martínez and cellist Geirthrudur Gudmundsdottir, the quartet will receive US$13,500, and a number of important domestic and international performance opportunities including a residency at the Emilia Romagna Festival in Italy in the summer of 2023.
The silver medal in the Senior Strings Division was awarded to the Trio Ondata and bronze prize was presented to the Pelia Quartet.
The gold medal in the Senior Wind Division was awarded to the University of Georgia-based Mixed Media.
The gold medal in the Junior String Division was awarded to the Colburn School-based Olive Trio.
The silver and bronze medals in the Junior String Division were awarded to the Sycamore Trio and the Peresson String Quartet.
The gold medal in Junior Wind Division was awarded to the Plexus Quartet.
The inaugural Lift Every Voice Prize was awarded to the Sequoia Reed Quintet.
Since its founding in 1973, more than 7,400 musicians have participated in the annual competition, including former Grand Prize recipients VC Artists Calidore Quartet, Ulysses, and the Dover Quartet.
