The Nashville Symphony Orchestra, in Nashville, United States has this week announced the appointment of American cellist Kevin Bate as its new Principal Cello.
A graduate of DePauw University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Freiburg Hochschule für Musik and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Kevin has previously held principal positions with the Evansville Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony, Missouri Symphony and the Orchestra Kentucky - and has served as the ensemble's Assistant Principal Cellist since 2015.
"Since joining the Nashville Symphony, Kevin has proven to be an invaluable asset to this orchestra ... " Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero has said.
"Along with leading the section, the principal cello plays an important role in a wide range of repertoire, and Kevin’s high level of musicianship makes him the perfect fit for this position," he has said.
