The Juilliard School, in New York City, has this week announced the appointment of the New York-based Ulysses Quartet as its new Graduate Resident String Quartet – effective from September of this year.
Comprising violinists Christina Bouey and Rhiannon Banerdt, violist Colin Brookes and cellist Grace Ho, the Ulysses Quartet are former 1st prize winners at the Schoenfeld and Fischoff International String Quartet Competitions.
As part of the Artist Diploma programme, the ensemble will study with the members of the Juilliard String Quartet - and will assist the group with chamber music and teaching duties.
"We are super excited to work closely with the Juilliard String Quartet and look forward to getting to know them along with the wonderful community of Juilliard ..." the ensemble has told The Violin Channel.
"We are also grateful to have the opportunity to deepen connections in our home city of New York while expanding our international presence,” they have said.
The Ulysses Quartet will succeed the Argus Quartet in the programme – who will graduate from the school in May of this year.
Previous Juilliard School Graduate Quartets in Residence include the Aeolus, Avalon, Chiara, Corigliano, Miró, St. Lawrence and Shanghai Quartets – and VC Artists Attacca and Verona Quartets.
