VC ARTIST | Tessa Lark — "Embodies Joy in Music Making"
Described by John Corigliano as "a real master of our art," American violinist Tessa Lark is gaining the spotlight for her astounding range of sounds, technical agility, and musical elegance
A graduate of the New England Conservatory and The Juilliard School, where she studied with Miriam Fried, Lucy Chapman, Sylvia Rosenberg, and Ida Kavafian, Tessa is a former major prize winner at the Indianapolis, Michael Hill, and Naumburg International Violin Competitions. She is also the recipient of a prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Leonore Annenberg Fellowship, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, and one of Lincoln Center’s prestigious Emerging Artist Awards, the Hunt Family Award.
Her solo engagements include performances with the Cincinnati Symphony, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic, Albany Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Knoxville Symphony, and Seattle Symphony.
Tessa's newest recording, The Stradgrass Sessions, is scheduled for release in 2022 and includes collaborations with composer-performers Jon Batiste, Edgar Meyer, Michael Cleveland, and Sierra Hulland; the premiere recording of John Corigliano’s solo violin composition STOMP. Last year, she made her debut on the first season of Violin Channel Vanguard Concerts.
She currently performs on a 1600 Maggini — on a generous loan from the Stradivari Society.
